01 PROJECT BRIEF
We start by discussing your design brief and all the necessary details you’d like to achieve. The more relevant information you send me the better. Once I have a full understanding of your project, I will return to you with an estimate. Once we have agreed on the assignment and estimate, a 50% upfront deposit is required to kisckstart the project.
02 SKETCH
Once the upfront payment clears, I will draw an initial sketch based on the brief and present it for approval. This is the best time for feedback and adjustments so as to put together the correct and final structure, pose, expression and the detailed features before we render the sketch digitally. Any and all edits, tweaks, revisions or changes must be made during this phase. Any changes made after the approved final sketch may incur additional fees.
03 RENDERING
The approved sketch will be colored and rendered in vector using Adobe Illustrator or depending on the requirement. A colored version of the design will then be submitted for further deliberations and final approval. Revisions at this stage consist primarily of color adjustments, highlights & shading and minor tweaks and corrections.
04 APPROVAL
Once the final artwork has been approved, an invoice will be sent for the balance due. The final digital art sourcefiles will be sent to you upon receipt of full payment. Files are zipped and organized with it’s own respective folders. Filetypes will be available in vector formats AI and EPS, or any exported formats depending on the requirement.
What’s the standard turn-around time?
Character design and illustration is a creative process. As you might expect, simple designs have shorter turnaround times and complicated ones have longer turnaround times.
For general projects, typical turnaround time to complete the whole design process can range from 2-3 business weeks and a month or more for larger project.
If that doesn’t serve your timeframe, contact me to discuss. It’s always possible that I can work things for your timeframe or deadline.
How much do you charge?
It will be difficult to charge without knowing what you want to achieve from the project. It will be best if we discuss the definite scope and needs of the design, then I will provide you a specific estimate. Contact me to discuss.
Can you start tomorrow?
I’d love to, but this will depend on my current workload and schedule. I usually require at least 2-3week’s notice in advance before booking new projects. I try not to overbook my schedule so I can give full attention to the project and keep the quality high.
How many versions and revisions do you charge?
I will create one version incorporated with the best concept and concrete solution to the task assigned. Discussion and considerations will then be conducted to refine the design. If necessary we redo it from scratch until we ensure the criteria for the design were appropriately set. However, if the revisions are not in accord on my part as the illustrator and the change creates additional work beyond the initial budget, an additional fee shall be charged.
What do you get?
Vector Adobe Illustrator is mostly the format of the rendered illustration but may vary depending on your style and requirement. Files are zipped and arranged in convenient order for storage and reference. File types may be in vector formats AI and EPS, exported layered PSD, transparent background PNG, and large resolution JPEG.
Our project is top secret? We cannot say a word before you sign an NDA
Almost all of my projects have confidentiality agreements, thus, only 20% of my projects composes my portfolio. Please contact me if you need a Non-Disclosure Agreement signed. We need to discuss your requirement before the quote is given since project cost with NDA may/will vary.
Who owns the Copyright for the illustrations created?
Full ownership and copyright of the approved artwork is yours upon receipt of final payment. All rights not expressly granted are reserved, including and but not limited to all rights in sketches, compositions or any other prelim materials created along the process.
Authorship Credit?
I reserve the right to display the art work in my portfolio. Authorship credit in my name as the illustrator shall accompany the work when it is reproduced. If the finished art is used as a contribution to a magazine, book or for games/applications, authorship credit shall be given unless otherwise specified.
Do you work for FREE?
NO!
Before we get started, can I get some sample sketch to see if I like your idea?
Please check my portolio to see a variety of work samples and my style of work. Sketch ideas and composition are only created after the confirmation of assignment and an upfront deposit is made.
Payment methods?
You can pay me online through PayPal, the most secure and easier way to make and accept payments.
